Our Spanish courses will provide you the basis for succcesful learning. Below you will find our course outlines for all our Spanish courses structured according to the levels according to the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).

As you will be studying in a school accredited by Instituto Cervantes you will be learning according to the syllabus of the Instituto Cervantes. No matter if you take an intensive course in Ibiza, evening classes, online classes or any other course format we offer.

How much of the course outline will be covered in your course, depends on the duration and the intensity of your course. It shows you what you learn on each level and gives you an idea how the different levels of A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 are structured.

The Spanish Courses at Instituto de Idiomas Ibiza follow the Common European Framework for languages (CEFR). You can use the Can Do Statements below correspondig to each level to track your progress. Together with the Level Test and the Can Do Statements below you can decide which level you are at right now and then you can choose the relevante course we offer you.

A0 - You are an absolute beginner if you ...

have absolutely no knowlegde of Spanish. You can´t count to five and also not greet a person. You will have to take a beginners course.

A1 - You are on a basic level if you can ...
  • understand and use familiar expressions and very basic phrases aimed at meeting your everyday needs,
  • introduce yourself to others and can ask,
  • order basic food and drink,
  • answer questions about personal details such as where you live, people you know and things you have
  • and interact in a simple way if the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help.

Depending on your exact level according to the level test, you would be placed either in a course A1.1. or A1.2 or if you can do all of the above you can move on to level A2.

A2- You are on elementary level if you can ...
  • understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance like very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography and employment,
  • communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters,
  • describe in simple terms aspects of your background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.

Depending on your exact level according to the level test, you would be placed either in a course A2.1., A2.2 or A2.3. If you can do all of the above you can move on to level B1.

B1 - You are on an intermediate level if you can ...
  • understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.,
  • deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where the language is spoken,
  • produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest,
  • describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes and ambitions, and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Depending on your exact level according to the level test, you would be placed either in a course B.1.1, B1.2 or B1.3. If you can do all of the above you can move on to level B1.

B2 - You are on an upper intermediate level if you can ...
  • understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in your field of specialisation,
  • interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party,
  • produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue giving the advantages and disadvantages of various options.

Depending on your exact level according to the level test, you would be placed either in a course B2.1, B2.2, B2.3., B2.4 or B2.5. If you can do all of the above you can move on to level C1.

C1 - You are on an advanced level if you can ...
  • understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning,
  • express yourself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions,
  • use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes,
  • produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices.

Depending on your exact level according to the level test, you would be placed either in a C1 class or if you can do all of the above you can move on to level C2.

C2 - You are on a proficiency level if you can ...
  • understand with ease virtually everything heard or read
  • summarise information from different spoken and written sources, reconstructing arguments and accounts in a coherent presentation
  • express yourself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning, even in the most complex situations

Can´t find your course or the right starting date?

If you can´t find the right course for you or the right starting date, feel free to contact us and we will help you.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cancel the course if I change my mind?

Yes, up to 5 days before starting your course. Once you have started the course, you cannot cancel it anymore.  You may freeze your credit though in case you can´t attend and you can continue it at a later point with another group. We won´t ask you why you want to freeze. No small print.

Do I need a book?

Yes, you will need a course book. You can purchase it either in paperback or in ebook format. We will indicate you the book depending on your level. The book is not included in the course price.

How do you make sure that all students progress well?

We take a regular progress test to make sure that everybody is advancing at a good pace. It is not a test which you can fail. It rather serves us to review and to know if there is something we have to go through again or help you with extra materials.

What do I learn in this course?

You will learn all the contents as described in our course outlines according to your level. You can see the course outlines on our homepage or ask us at info@ii-ibiza.com to email them to you.

Can I make up a missed class?

You can´t make up a missed class, but you will equally receive the class summaries of each class held so you can at least know what was done in class and how the group progressed. However, you will see that in this case you will have no problem to get back into the rhythm. Our experience in the developmnet of class syllabi takes into account that classes are being missed or that sometimes a student did not follow.

Can I change the level in case it feels to hard or to easy?

Yes. If this should happen, please contact us at info@ii-ibiza.com. We will take another level test with you. If you score accordingly you can move a level up or down.

Will I get the opportunity to speak Spanish during the class like in a classroom class?

Yes, definitely. The main objective is to make you speak the language and all our teachers will make you and your classmates participate as much as possible. There will be interaction with your teacher and with your classmates. Just like in a classroom Spanish lesson.

What is the duration of this course?

The duration is what you choose it to be depending on your goals. You can start anytime and keep assisting the classes as long as you want or as soon as you have reached your goals. If you continue you will move up in level together with your classmates.

Which book do we use and is it included in the course price?

Depending on your level, we will inform you before your course start which book you will have to purchase. The book is not included in the course price.

Can I change the level in case it feels to hard or to easy?

Yes. If this should happen, please contact us at info@ii-ibiza.com. We will take another level test with you. If you score accordingly you can move a level up or down.

Frequently asked questions

How will the teacher know what I want to learn?

Apart from taking the level test with you we will ask you a series of questions to detect your necessities in detail. After that we will set your goals and a plan for your lessons.

What happens if I don´t make it to a lesson?

In this case our cancellation policy for private lessons applies. If you cancel

  • more than 24 hours in advance: no charge
  • between 12 and 24 hours in advance: 50% of the lesson of that day
  • between 0 and 12 hours in advance: 100% of the lesson of that day
Will there be any homework?

Only if you like. The private classes will adapt to your schedule. While homework is great in order to safe time with the teacher and go advancing even when your are not in class, there is no obligation. We will ask you if you want homework or not.

How long is each lesson?

It is completely up to you and your availability! You can schedule lessons between 30 minutes and 2 hours in length any day between Monday and Saturday.

Can I take the lessons anytime I want to?

We will ask your for your preference for the timetable and we will do our best to meet your requierements. Usually we can adapt to the busiest schedules to make your Spanish private classes fit in your daily life.

Can I change an agreed timetable?

Yes, anytime. Just send us an email to info@ii-ibiza.com and let us know the changes you want. We will adapt to it.

Do I need a book for private lessons?

It depends on your goals and necessities. After detecting those, we will inform you in case you need to buy any material. But usually it is not the case.
